GESTAPO 666 "Nostagiah" (Black Seed Productions 2007)

“Nostalgiah” is the second full-length album from Gestapo 666, a band that comprise members from Celestia, Mortifera, Satanic Warmaster… No need to state who they are. “Nostalgiah” start strongly with “Scriptures of our black melencholy”; This song spread a very cold atmosphere thanks to the vocals, mid tempo riffs and these gloomy keyboard touches. An excellent way in. “Gestapo of satan” and “Deshumanization (for master satan)” open the door to a raw and basic black metal with old school riffs. Then come “Dethroned tyrant will return” and the very good “Shadow hate division” where we can feel the S.W. touch, same thing for the following song “Bestial rites of sacrifice”. Other very strong moment on “Nostalgiah”, “Hail Gestapo” where fast and catchy mid tempo follow one after the other, again we think a lot to S.W. . “Nostalgiah” ends with a crushing “The forgotten temple of Belial” and leave a mitigated feeling after the first listening. But after two or three more, this second album turned out to be good, very varied and better than 90% of the present Black metal releases. But nothing surprising with such a line-up. I have maybe one regret, even if the diversity of “Nostalgiah” is an asset, more songs in the vein of the great “Scriptures of our black melancholy” could have been more than welcome.
